Could one conversation change your life?
Flashback to 2013. A series of seemingly small conversations prompted Tracy to examine her health.
During her annual checkup, Tracy's internist commented on how every year she came in, she had gained another 5 -10 pounds. Feeling concerned, the internist challenged Tracy to lose 10 pounds in the next 6 months. That same week, Tracy's 12 year old daughter asked her to do the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot. Always up for a challenge, Tracy began training — putting her shoes on everyday for at least 30 minutes and walking or doing some kind of a walk-run combo. Her daughter’s urging to train was the physical challenge Tracy needed to balance out the weight loss challenge from her internist. True to her belief in moderation, Tracy chose to examine everyday habits and make small, yet significant lifestyle changes that she knew she could sustain. She became vigilant about labels and ingredients, eliminating processed foods that were high in sugar, full of ingredients she couldn’t pronounce and bastardized versions of food that she could make herself in a clean & healthy manner. While Tracy had always been a proficient home cook, she become passionate about finding and creating delicious healthy meals for her family and friends.
When it came to physical activity, Tracy kept lacing up her shoes, knowing that movement is a key component of a healthy lifestyle. While running and barre classes are her preferred forms of exercise, she applauds anyone who takes the effort to find what moves them. (Haven't found what moves you yet? As for that challenge from her doctor, Tracy stepped up to the plate. Within 6 months, she lost more than 30 pounds by making simple, sustainable changes. She ran the 5K with her daughter. She embraced the joy of having a healthy body. Since that time, Tracy has lost an additional 15 pounds and kept the weight off by sticking to a lifestyle plan of daily physical activity and clean healthy food choices.
Moved to help others, Tracy received her Health Coaching training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where she studied a variety of dietary theories and practical lifestyle coaching methods.
